In life, there are things that simply just belong together. Like Tayto Crisps and buttered bread, a scone with cream, or even a cup of tea with a dunkable biscuit.
Delicious food combinations always seem to find their way to one another, it’s almost like a magical romance. But here’s the thing, exactly how did they find their way and how did you hear about them?
There has always been a daredevil amongst us that confidently pairs one item with another and comes back with food heaven but what about the humble cup of tea?
We Irish love our tea, there may be some debate as how we all like to take it, but we love it! But, what about a new friend for your tea? Are you brave enough to try? We have 8 new and exciting ways for you to spice up and enjoy your tea.
Tongue Tingling Lemon
Over the years, Ireland has seen an increase of those drinking flavored tea or fruit tea because of its many health benefits. I myself am partial to a lemon green tea in the mornings. Lemon tea offers a refreshing zing to your cuppa and comes packed with benefits.
It can help with:
- Detoxing the body
- Digestion
- Promote good heart health
- Good for the skin
How to Make Your Own:
- Boil your Uccello Kettle – tilt-to-pour
- Add green tea leaves to your cup
- A few thin slices of lemon
Heart Warming Apple Cider
This isn’t one for the faint hearted, it’s like the marmite of tea. You will either love it or hate it. Maybe knowing that it comes with a number of health benefits might change your mind. By adding some apple cider vinegar to your tea it will help with:
- Weight loss
- Regulating your blood sugar levels
- Lower high cholesterol
- Digestion
- Help strengthen your immune system
If you do try it, please feel free to leave a comment below I would love to hear more about it.
How to Make Your Own:
- Tilt-to-pour from your Uccello Kettle into your cup
- 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon honey
Enjoy the Anti-inflammatory Benefits of Ginger
To be fair, ginger tea isn’t new. It dates back to China near 5,000 years ago and was used back then as a health tonic. I have enjoyed a cup of ginger tea many times (especially when I have a sore throat, as it numbs the pain), it smells amazing and comes with health benefits that those who live with arthritis may be interested in.
- Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties and will help those living with inflammatory arthritis such as rheumatoid arthritis
- It will help ease any digestive pain or discomfort
- Help reduce pain from headaches and migraines
- It is rich in antioxidants.
How to Make Your Own:
You can either boil a couple of slices of fresh ginger in a pot with water and service into cups. In order to take away any heavy lifting of hot water, you can boil your Uccello Kettle and let the thin slices of ginger sit in your cup for 3-5 mins before drinking.
Go Decedent with a Dollop of Cream
Similar to a hot chocolate topped with cream, you now make your cuppa and dollop it on top. As cream is thicker than whole milk or full fat milk, you are more likely to have a velvety finish to your tea. It’s personally not my cup of tea but if you are a cream lover, pop the kettle on, it’s cream and 2 sugars time.
Sweet as Honey
Is there nothing that Honey can’t make better?
It’s an all natural sweetener and an all-around cold-curing classic. I love adding honey to my porridge, tea, coffee, spoon… It really is golden delicious and comes with a number of great health benefits.
- It can help improve cholesterol
- Honey is rich in antioxidants
- Helps lower blood sugar
- Has naturally occurring pain killing properties. This would be a good idea for those living with arthritis and suffering from joint pain.
Spicing Things Up With Cinnamon
Cinnamon is a festive scent, one that will always bring me right back to Christmas. In Ireland, the weather may always be frightful but what’s in your cup could be delightful.
Adding cinnamon to your cuppa could be an all-around crowd pleaser. Imagine hugging your mug and breathing in deep that beautiful aroma. It makes me want a cake every time. It also comes with some great health benefits that those with arthritis will be glad to hear.
- Cinnamon helps to lower inflammation in the body
- It promotes weight loss
- Can help reduce blood sugars
- Helps in fighting off bad bacteria – which is probably why it’s a crowd pleaser during the winter with colds and flus
Detecting Some Floral Notes
I haven’t been brave enough to try this myself, so perhaps there is a daredevil amongst you who is happy to try and let me know?
For those who enjoy floral tastes, this would be perfect for you. Lavender helps improve the quality of your sleep and can help reduce stress and anxiety.
How To Make Your Own:
You can purchase culinary lavender buds where all you need to do is add water to enjoy. Once you tilt-to-pour with your Uccello Kettle, leave the buds sit for 10-15 mins.
Truly Mint to Be?
This is a staple in my house during the winter months and comes in handy when hay fever strikes. There is nothing quite like mint to clear the sinuses and have you feel back to normal. Mint tea is great for:
- Relieving clogged sinuses
- Fighting off bacterial infections
- Improving the quality of your sleep
- Help with digestion
- Freshen breath
To enjoy mint tea, add a few sprigs of mint leaves to your cup of hot water, let them sit and when ready, you can strain and enjoy.
