Mental health. Not something that is taking center stage right now for many of us is it?
We are all more worried about the resurgence of COVID-19 numbers, the war between Ukraine & Russia and the fast rise of inflation. What will it mean for us, our families, jobs and the country as a whole.
It all feels like a bad dream. But sadly, we are all constantly on edge with worry, feeling anxious, unsettled with a total lack of control and security. Now imagine what all those feelings and many more are doing to your mental health.
What is Mental Health?
When we talk about mental health, we are referring to our mental, behavioral, and emotional wellbeing. Basically, it’s all about how we think, feel, and behave.
The Five Ways To Wellbeing Campaign:
The five ways to well-being are used worldwide and recommended by many. Thanks to Mental Health Ireland, we can share them in easy to read images below for you.
Connect:
Good relationships with your family, friends, and those we work with are important to your mental wellbeing. Connect with them, whether it be via phone, video call, text, or over a cuppa.
Be Active:
You know that feel-good feeling you get after the gym, a walk, or generally after any physical exercise? Well, evidence shows there is a significant link between being active and good mental wellbeing.
Take Notice:
Take time to stop and smell the roses. Paying attention to the moment you are in, to your thoughts, or how you are feeling can also help improve your mental wellbeing.
Keep Learning:
Keep your brain active. Continuing to learn throughout your life can help improve and maintain your mental health. I know for me and my family, we started collecting boardgames to play with each other and many of them have kept us on our toes and are helping to keep our mind sharp.
Giving:
Giving can be a very simple thing. Whether you offer to make someone a cup of tea or simply hold the door open for them. Giving has a knock-on effect on your own mental wellbeing.
Speaking of giving, why not give someone you know the gift of a little more independence at home with their very own Uccello Kettle? You can connect with a cuppa and improve the mental wellbeing of yourself and loved one.
